Product Name
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA)

Project Description
This program for high school students teaches youth the process to establish a business enterprise or social movement. YEA students attend a series of workshops, experiential business tours, and classes, and are taught to write a business or social action plan, make a pitch to potential investors, obtain funding, register with governmental agencies and actually launch their company or social movement.

Outcome from Using the Product

  • Students will learn about entrepreneurism, develop enterprises and become exposed to regional colleges and local businesses. Through this exposure students will come to recognize the opportunities, both academically and professionally, in the region and be less inclined to leave the region for college or career purposes, thereby reducing the “brain drain” that currently exists in Western New York.
  • Students who participate in YEA! will be more entrepreneurially-minded, more open to creative thinking and innovation, and more motivated and driven than they might otherwise have been. These attributes are an asset to employers, and fundamental to individuals who have the opportunity to shape the future of the Finger Lakes Region economy.

Monreo County Executive
